Gateway Staff Benefits
Volunteering: Staff may take two days paid leave to volunteer in the local community as part of giving something back.
Discretionary days leave: The Chief Executive may nominate a date either before Christmas or during the week leading to New Year, where the office will be closed and which staff will take as an addtional day's leave. This may not be applicable to all areas where service delivery is business critical.
Sabbatical leave: As part of our commitment to the development of our staff, we offer the opportunity to apply for unpaid leave up to 12 months.
Study leave: As part of our commitment to developing staff with a professional qualification, we give up to two days' time off for study leave prior to an exam, in addition to the exam date.
Annual leave: We offer a minimum of 22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff).
Maternity/paternity/adoption leave: We offer paid benefits in line with statutory rates or above, details of which are outlined in the Maternity/Paternity/Adoption leave policies.
TOIL: If you are required to work outside of your agreed working hours, time off in lieu will be offered.
Health and Wellbeing
Health and wellbeing is very important at Gateway. We provide a cash plan for all staff and cover applies from your first day of employment. We provide level 3 cover and you can claim back for the cost towards the following:
Dental: Includes check-ups, hygenist fees, fillings, dentures, crowns and bridges
Optical: Includes sight tests, prescription glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses
Full body health screening: A full health screen in hospital, registered health screening clinic or service provider
Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, chiropractic, chriopody/podiatry and acupuncture
Diagnostic consultation, tests and scans
Personal Accident cover (adults only)
Free confidential helpline: This is to advise you on health and lifestyle issues as well as an over the phone counselling service. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There is a maximum amount you can claim each year. Full details of the cover provided and the annual limits for each person are usually sent out to you shortly after you start with us. The cost for the cash plan is covered by Gateway. You may add partners at a cost to you. You can also add up to four children who live with you and are under the age of 18, for which there is no charge.

Occupational sick pay: We recognise that we may all fall ill from time to time. Gateway will pay during sickness absence on most occasions.
Flu vaccinations: Staff will be offered a free flu vaccination in the Autumn administered by a health professional. We hope this will lower the risk of infection and illness.
Lone working: Equipment is provided for lone working staff, and those who are required to enter the homes of residents, to protect them.
Occupational health referral: Staff may be referred to OH prior to their return from long-term sickness absence or an underlying health matter.
EAP (Employee Assistance Programme)
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): This is a confidential information and counselling service for all staff, available 24 hours a day, 7 days week, online and on the telephone.
The service is designed to answer your questions immediately or refer you to the most appropriate advisor, counsellor, or source of information. The service includes unlimited telephone counselling, legal, financial, consumer and personal advice, deabt advisory service, relationship support, face-to-face counselling, critical incident support and monthly bulletin advice.

We realise that keeping fit has become more and more important to people and so Gateway offers to subsidise gym memberships for their staff.
Season ticket loan: Staff can access an interest free season ticet loan to purchase an annual season ticket for travel to work, following successful completion of your probationary period.
The season ticket loan will be repayable through your monthly salary after tax, national insurance and other deductions. If you application is successful you will be given a cheque made payable to the travel company. Application forms can be obtained from Human Resources/Payroll.
Salary advances: These may be applied for short term financial loans.
Car loan: In exceptional circumstances we will consider applications for a car loan from employees who critiaclly need to have a car to carry out their work for Gateway.
Emergency loan: Staff may apply for a loan to prevent financial hardship using the 'employees other loans application' form. Applications will not, however, be approved to pay for such luxuries as a holiday.
We offer a childcare voucher scheme which operates through salary sacrifice. The childcare vouchers are deducted from your gross pay, before tax and national insurance. You do not pay any tax and national insurance on your requested voucher order.
There is a minimum voucher order of £10.00 a month. The maximum voucher order depends on your gross salary. For basic rate tax payers, you can receive up to £243.00 a month tax free,

Bonus day: A payment of £100 is made to employees that have had no more than 2 full-day equivalent absences during the appraisal year (April 1 to March 31) (excluding annual leave). As an alternative an employee could be offered an extra one day's leave to be taken during the following leave year.
Long service award: We value the loyalty of our staff and will reward service at five yearly increments, commencing at the 5th anniversary of employment with Gateway.
Staff suggestion: Where an individual puts forward a suggestion to improve services or procedures which has an improved efficiency or cost saving, the employee who made the suggestion may be awarded up to £50 in vouchers as determined by EMT.
These payments are discretionary and not contractual.
Bonus: Following the annual appraisals, individuals may achieve a 3% bonus for achieving their KPIs and for making a significant contribution to Gateway achieving its corporate objectives as described in the Coporate Delivery Plan. For exceptional performance a bonus of 5% can be achieved. These payments are not contractual.
Learning and Development Opportunities
We are keen to invest in the personal and professional devlopment of our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities including paying towards professional qualifications, accredited training, conferences, mentoring, coaching and work shadowing.
Personal qualification: Gateway currently sets aside 15% of the Learning & Development budget to sponsor staff to achieve a professional qualification.
We will reimburse or pay for annual subscriptions to professional bodies.
The Pensions Trust provide a pension scheme for all staff members called the Social Housing Pension Scheme Defined Contribution.
All new staff will be assessed and if eligible will be automatically enrolled. If eligible the payments into your pension are:
Gateway contributions: 3% will be contributed by Gateway Housing Association every pay period.
Your contribution: A minimum of 1% of your salary will be taken from your pay every pay period. You can choose to increase this if you want to save more for your retirement.
Tax relief: Generally, contributions up to a maximum set by the Government will go into your pension before tax is deducted. The tax that you would have paid to the government on your contribution will automatically go into your pension.
Death in service benefit: The scheme also includes a Death in Service lump of 3x your annual salary.
Salary: We offer competitive salaries which we benchmark every three years with like sized organisations in London, using an external service.
London Living Wage: We commit to paying the LLW as a minimum. This is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually which we voluntarily choose to pay.
We offer a range of flexible working options including part-time, home working and mobile working. The flexible working policy gives staff the opportunity to request a change to their working pattern.
