Gateway invested £500,000 in the refurbishment of Mandela House in Bethnal Green.

The extensive upgrades included data cabling be laid throughout so residents have greater online access. This is part of Gateway's programme to support residents to go online.

The communal lounge, kitchen and guest room are now interior designed and refurbished. All water tanks in the 28 one bedroom flats have been replaced, along with the communal boiler and significant works to the roof have been completed. The Scheme Manager's office has been relocated, allowing for better vision to corridors and the communal entrance for the safety of residents.

The Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs, joined Gateway residents and staff to celebrate the re-launch of Mandela House.

Mayor Biggs unveils plaque at Mandela House

The re-launch took place on 11 February 2016, the 26th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release from prison. Mayor Biggs unveiled a plaque to commemorate the successful refurbishment.
