Gateway celebrated a successful year of partnership with our Charity of the Year, St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, with the launch of an exciting collaborative art project.
Hospice patients and Gateway residents, including residents of Pat Shaw House care home, worked together to produce a piece of artwork that shared memories of living in the East End. The responses were incredibly diverse and inspiring, showing the true richness of the East End.
At the launch event at the Hospice on Thursday 6 April, guests enjoyed browsing the artwork with a slice of cake and hearing more about the stories that made up the project. It was lovely to hear memories shared and see new friendships made.
St Joseph’s Director of Fundraising and Engagement, Sarah Thompson, and Gateway’s Director of Resident Services, Jane Ball, both said a few words at the launch. They praised the diverse voices celebrated in the art exhibition, and confirmed their commitment to working in partnership to improve the lives of local people.
The artwork is being displayed at St Joseph’s Hospice, along with elements of Gateway’s 90th anniversary exhibition, until 27 April so make sure you visit. You can find out more about the work St Joseph’s Hospice do on their website: www.stjh.org.uk
