Leaseholder gas safety

Published: 17 November 2008

gas flameAs a leaseholder, it is your responsibility to get your gas appliances checked every year. You must also make sure that all gas appliances, installation pipe work and flues are safe.

You must have them checked for safety every year by a CORGI registered fitter.

Remember to:

  • keep a record of all safety checks for a minimum of two years;
  • if you are a landlord, give your tenant a copy of the gas safety check within 28 days of the inspection; and
  • if you are a landlord, make sure you give your tenant a copy of the current gas safety certificate before they move in.

If you need further advice, ring the Health and Safety Executive Gas Safety advice line on 0800 300 363 or visit their website.
