Our Carers at Peter Shore Court
We carefully select staff making sure we have the best possible people to deliver high quality services. Staff at Peter Shore continuously strive to improve the lives of residents.
We recruit and retain the best staff by making them feel valued. We provide training for staff to deliver services in accordance with the key principles of Gateway. All staff will have or be working towards a QCF level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
Staff receive training according to their skill base. They also have at a minimum training in the following:
- Moving and handling
- Dying, death and bereavement
- Mental Capacity Assessment and Deprivation of Liberty (DoL)
- Recognising and supporting people with early signs of Alzheimer’s and Dementia
- Infection control
- First aid
- Fire and health and safety
- Understanding common age related illness
- Food hygiene
Peter Shore always has enough staff on each shift to make sure everyone’s needs are met.
Gateway’s supported housing and care services has the appropriate management structure in place. This structure ensures staff at the home have the support to focus on providing a quality service to residents.
Each resident is allocated a personal assistant who will spend extra time with them to build a relationship. This helps us understand residents and act as an advocate on their behalf.
