Is this service right for you?

Gateway offers a diverse range of housing options for older people. This means that as your preferences or support needs change we will have an option that could suit you. It is important to understand the options available and Gateway can guide you through our different services.

What is residential care?

Care homes offer residents 24 hour, person-centred care. If you require regular or continual care this is the best option for you. Gateway’s residential care homes are for the over 65s. In residential care you do not lose any independence.  Our friendly care team support you to be independent and make the most of your later life. Our care is tailored to your own preferences, interests and the level of specialist support you need.

Both of Gateway’s care homes, Peter Shore Court and Pat Shaw House, offer residential care for the over 65s.

Dementia Care

Individuals living with dementia have specific support needs and require care tailored to these. Our care home, Peter Shore Court, cares for individuals living with dementia in a specialist and supportive environment.

At Gateway, we focus our care on the individual and the things that make them unique, not just their diagnosis. Our approach is to understand every resident and tailor our service to them. Our staff are specifically trained to understand and care for dementia patients and do so with compassion and consideration. Peter Shore Court is adapted to be a safe home for individuals living with dementia.

Other housing options for older people

If you would benefit from greater support or security, but do not think you require 24 hour care, retirement living (also known as sheltered housing) may be the option for you. In retirement living you live completely independently in an environment specifically for the over 65s. You cook, clean and shop for yourself but, should you need it, an emergency call system is available and a scheme manager is on hand to help you out.
