Gateway's Sheltered Housing Improvement Plan

Gateway is the leading provider of older person’s housing in Tower Hamlets. We are committed to building upon this positive track record, examining ways in which we can improve our older person housing offer and through innovation in design and choice, continue to lead the way in this service area.

The Sheltered Housing Improvement Plan (SHIP) is part of our Older Person’s Strategy 2016-2020 that seeks to develop excellent quality housing, attaining the highest standards and meeting future customer expectations. As part of SHIP we are currently reviewing all sheltered schemes and positively planning for the future.
We have developed new services at William Cubit Lodge, re furbished and developed schemes at Edith Ramsay House and Mandela House and have improvement and investment plans for Hugh Platt and Vic Johnson House. Appian Court and Regency Court are part of the SHIP review.

We want to ensure that our older residents live in homes that are fully fit for purpose and that meet their needs and aspirations. As part of this we recognise the importance of consulting with our residents, their family and local stakeholders at every stage of the project's development. Details of the types of consultation we are undertaking can be found under 'Working With You'.
