Topping Out Ceremony Marks Milestone at Vic Johnson House

The topping out ceremony took place at Vic Johnson House on Friday as builders reached roof level. Vic Johnson House will provide 60 high-quality modern retirement apartments and communal  spaces, exclusively  for residents over 55.

Gateway's Chief Executive Kate Dodsworth said:  "Our redevelopment programme is ambitious. We're creating modern high-quality homes that are affordable. We're on track to achieve our goal of building 500 homes by  2020 - and today's Vic Johnson milestone is a very big part of that.

“All 60 homes at Vic Johnson will be for London Affordable Housing rent. This is a significant financial investment and is supported by the Mayor of  London. We are really excited to be doing our bit for the desperate housing need in the capital.”

Cain Peters, Regional Director at Hill, commented: “We were delighted to welcome Gateway Housing Association’s Board for the topping out of Vic Johnson House.  Work is progressing well on site and we are pleased to have achieved the highest point of this development. We look forward to welcoming future residents, in addition to residents currently in-situ, into their new homes.”

The Vic Johnson project, which began works in December 2017, is due for completion in early 2020.

Gateway Housing Association is a community-based housing association with around 3,000 properties primarily in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and surrounding boroughs.
