Winter Warmers keeps a check on our older residents

Winter Warmers

Gateway staff and volunteers are visiting our older residents in our Winter Warmers programme.

This time each year, we visit general needs residents aged over 70 to see they are okay.

This makes sure they are prepared for the colder months, if the property still meets their needs, and if their home needs any repairs.

We can also check their well-being, both financially and health-wise.

We have partners we can refer residents to for help, and we can tell them about free activities and events we organise like the amazing Furry Tales project.

Every resident that takes part is given a goodie bag and entered into a prize draw.

It's also ideal for our staff - from all departments across Gateway - to hear directly from our residents.

Here is some of the feedback to the visits:

"I am happy because you are asking what I need"

"Nice to see a friendly a face and have someone to talk to"

"It is nice to have someone asking of me. I like Gateway"
