We follow the National Housing Federation (NHF) Code of Governance 2020, ensuring alignment with sector best practice. 

Our structure

Gateway  operates  as a group consisting of:  

  • Gateway Housing Association (Parent)  - a registered provider of social housing   

  • Gateway Living Ltd  - a development and commercial  subsidiary    

  • Victoria Park Housing Developments Ltd  - a design and build  subsidiary    

The Parent Board is the ultimate governing body and  is responsible for :  

  • Setting the Group’s strategic direction   

  • Overseeing risk   

  • Approving key policies   

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance across all organisations

Managing risk  

Our governance framework emphasises strong internal controls, transparent  reporting  and proactive risk management.  

The Board and leadership team:  

  • Define and  monitor  the Group’s risk  appetite    

  • Undertake regular stress  testing    

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory  requirements    

  • Maintain systems for audit,  assurance  and  whistleblowing  

Regulatory compliance

We are regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing.  

Our current rating is:  

  • G1  - Meeting governance requirements   

  • V1  - Meeting financial viability  requirements    

This means we have the financial capacity to manage a wide range of risks and continue delivering services effectively.  

Executive management

The Chief Executive leads the organisation’s day-to-day operations and is accountable to the Board.  

Supported by the Executive Management Team (EMT), they  are responsible for :  

  • Delivering the organisation’s business plan and services   

  • Managing risk, finances,  compliance  and staff   

  • Providing  accurate  and  timely  information to the Board   

  • Implementing Board decisions and  maintaining  effective controls   

The EMT has delegated authority to manage operations within approved budgets and frameworks.
