Resales

You can sell your shared ownership home at any time. This is known as a resale.

When you're ready to sell, the first step is to let us know. In most cases, we will market your home on your behalf for the first eight weeks (or for the period set out in your lease). This is known as the nomination period

During this time, we will use our database of prospective shared ownership buyers and do our best to find a suitable purchaser for your home as quickly as possible.

If we are unable to find a buyer during the nomination period, you can choose to market the property yourself through an estate agent. Any estate agent fees would be your responsibility.

As your home was originally purchased through the shared ownership scheme, any buyer must meet the eligibility criteria set out by the relevant housing regulations and Gateway Housing.

Before You Sell

Our Resales Guide explains the resale process in full, including the steps involved and any costs you may need to pay.

You can also download our Tenants Rights Guide for further information about your rights and responsibilities as a shared ownership leaseholder.
