A Vibrant Celebration of Black History Month

BHM

To mark Black History Month 2025, alongside Tower Hamlet Council, Gateway Housing hosted an inspiring community event held at Tower Hamlets Town Hall on Friday 24 October.

The afternoon brought residents, colleagues, and local partners together to celebrate the richness of Black art, culture, and heritage through creativity and connection. Guests enjoyed a lively mix of activities and performances, including spoken word poetry, energetic drumming and dance, and displays from talented local artists.

There were also cultural and health stalls, serving up delicious food and offering opportunities to learn more about community wellbeing.

Big thank you to the local partners for their participation:

  • Raggo Zulu rebel - recording artist, song writer & performer
  • Tony Fairweather - Author, Remembering the Windrush Generation - gives us an insight into this nostalgic recreation of the iconic Caribbean front room, kitchen and bedroom.
  • Dancers - Yurupari Grupo Folclorico

The event was a joyful reflection of our shared values — celebrating diversity, unity, and the power of coming together as a community.
