Equity Diversity and Inclusion

Generational family

At Gateway we are committed to being a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organisation.

As part of this commitment, we strive for continuous improvement – not only in supporting others but also in developing  our own self-awareness and understanding. Our values - Passionate, Accountable, Connected, Excellence - underpin this commitment and cement our integrity as a caring organisation.

To deliver on our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion we:

  • Commit to actively practising anti-racism and inclusion, tackling prejudice and discrimination at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure Gateway is a safe, welcoming environment for all, irrespective of background.
  • Know that we work in diverse communities, and that some groups are more likely to experience disadvantage and discrimination. We are committed to being mindful and knowledgeable of this and to tackle harmful behaviours wherever we find them.
  • Recognise that ‘one size does not fit all,’ so provide a range of opportunities for all residents to get involved and contribute their views.
  • Commit to knowing who our residents are and understanding their needs so that we can provide a high quality, appropriate, and accessible service.
  • Employ a team, and board, that represents the diverse communities and residents that we serve. We respect our people’s different experiences and points of view and recognise that they bring a richness of knowledge that helps us provide a better service to our customers.
  • Work with our contractors, suppliers and  third-party partners to ensure alignment with our EDI values and principles.
  • Actively champion equity, diversity, and inclusion. We create opportunities to celebrate diversity and emphasise the ways in which diversity makes us a stronger team and a better organisation.

Our Board is fully committed to fostering, monitoring, and supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion. All our Board members will role model inclusion and will be actively involved in ensuring our commitments are upheld.

Future of London

Gateway is a member of Future of London, and we are committed to the Diversity Pledge. We:

  • Hold public-facing events which include under-represented demographic groups (by gender, ethnicity, ability, age, etc.) as speakers.
  • Put forward speakers from under-represented groups to represent our organisation, including at senior levels.
  • Avoid participating in sessions which feature only one demographic group.
