It's South Asian Heritage Month!

This July and August, we would like to share personal stories and deepen people’s understanding of the rich and diverse contributions of South Asian communities to British society.
What is South Asian Heritage Month?
South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) takes place from 18 July to 17 August each year. These dates mark the royal assent of the Indian Independence Act 1947 by King George VI and the publication of the Radcliffe Line in 1947.
SAHM aims to understand the rich heritage and cultures that continue to link the UK with South Asia.
What is this year's theme?
This year's theme is "Free to Be Me”. It encourages everyone to express their unique identities, experiences, and culture.
Our stories connect us in meaningful ways, and there are many ways to share them. Whether you express yourself through art, writing, music, fashion, or food, your heritage is worth celebrating!
Over the next few weeks, we'll be shining a spotlight on the incredible people who make our community.
