Over-60s Can enjoy soup, rolls, and unlimited hot drinks for £1 this Winter

Asda Winter Warmers

For just £1, seniors can enjoy a comforting bowl of soup, a roll, and unlimited tea and coffee at any of Asda’s 205 cafes.

The deal, which runs from 1st November 2024 to 28th February 2025, has already proved vital, with over 60,000 meals served in the first two weeks of its return. Customers can choose from three soup flavours, tomato, chicken, or vegetable, making it a hearty and affordable way to stay warm this winter.

As well as providing warm meals, Asda is encouraging social interaction by inviting over-60s to join local Chatty Cafés in-store. The initiative aims to address loneliness, especially during the festive season, when many older adults may struggle with limited human contact.

According to Asda’s Christmas Community Report:

  • One in 10 over-60s said they’ve visited a supermarket just to speak to someone.
  • 17% of older adults reported going entire days without speaking to anyone last Christmas.
  • 15% admitted to getting used to the lack of conversation over the festive period.

The £1 Winter Warmer meal runs alongside the popular ‘Kids Eat for £1’ offer, which has served 4.9 million meals since its launch in 2022. This allows grandparents and grandchildren to enjoy a family meal in an Asda café for as little as £4 (based on two adults and two children).

Asda is also hosting a ‘Community Cuppa’ campaign, offering free meeting spaces for community groups on weekdays from 2 pm to 6 pm throughout November and December. Members who attend will enjoy unlimited complimentary tea or coffee, providing a warm and welcoming environment during the colder months.

For more information, visit your local Asda café or check out their Community Cuppa spaces.
