Our statement on the recent riots

We are deeply shocked and devastated by the recent horrific acts of violence, racism, Islamophobia, and hatred that have no place in our community. Individuals committing racially motivated attacks to incite fear and division have caused harm to innocent people.

At Gateway Housing Association, our hearts go out to all those affected, especially our customers and colleagues who have been made to feel unsafe in their own neighbourhoods. We appreciate that while recent events have not been local, many people will have been deeply troubled by what’s happening. As an organisation, we have zero tolerance for racism and do not support violence of any kind.

We believe in a society where everyone belongs, regardless of their background. The violence we have witnessed does not reflect the values we hold and those of the  majority of people in this country.

As an organisation dedicated to fostering community and belonging, we will continue to demonstrate empathy and compassion. We urge anyone who feels threatened to seek support from the police or local authorities. Remember, you are not alone - we stand with you.

If you have any concerns for your safety, please call the police immediately on 999 or contact us at 020 8709 4300.
