Resident's Association and Groups

A Tenant Residents' Association (TRA) is a formal group of residents from an estate, block, neighbourhood, or sheltered scheme who work together with us. Their goal is to improve their community and ensure their voices are heard.

Why start a Resident's Association?

  • Resolve local issues or concerns.
  • Make decisions about the management and maintenance of their block or estate.
  • Influence the housing services provided.

You can join or start a TRA in your local area to collaborate with others on improving your community.

Engage with Gateway on developing solutions to issues

Residents can meet to communicate, share information, and identify someone who can take responsibility for getting issues resolved.

Build a stronger community

Residents can organise and lead meetings to get to know each other better and understand the issues affecting the community. As part of this process, Resident Officers can be appointed to take responsibility for the Resident Association and work towards developing experience and insight into areas for improvement. TRAs also act as a bridge between landlords and residents, supporting engagement that helps to improve Gateway's performance.

Members of our TRAs find that:

  • They can develop a community spirit
  • Individuals enjoy becoming more involved in their community
  • They can improve opportunities for people to meet socially
  • People get a sense of achievement and pride in a community that they have helped to build
